Overheard: The Simple Life

We spent a BEAUTIFUL 3 days up on the farm this weekend at my parent's house. We go up often but it's usually only for 2 days and it goes by way too quickly. It, of course, went by too quickly this time too but it was a nice slow few days.  Here is a quick overheard:
Me: "You've gotta admit Nate, there is something incredibly appealing about this simple life... Saturday afternoon horse ride, visiting with family on the deck in the shade, napping in the hammock, an evening of rodeo, riding in the back of the truck, Sunday afternoon dutch oven dinner in the mountains..."
Tayvin lounging in the back of the truck with the wind blowing through his cute little buzz cut with the most content look on his face: "Well Mom, sorry to tell you this but that's just part of life and it's a life I love."
Guess what little dude? It's a life I love too. I love sharing it with you and little makes me happier than seeing how much you love it too. Thanks for reminding me that simple should just be part of life.

The Duo

My brother and his wife had their first baby girl 4 months after Tayvin was born. Their second was born 10 days after Tahnyon. Only time will tell if Tahn & RyElle will be as inseperable as their older siblings, Tayvin and Toshlyn.

Prayer time...

2 years ago in Alaska...
Every time it snowed here it would be gone within a few hours. So when we wanted to play in the snow, we'd head up to Kamas.
My cute little snowman...

While my parents were in New Zealand/Australia, we went up to do a few things at their house then spent 4 hours snowshoeing. It was so nice to escape for a little while.

My cute little farmboy

Last night we met my mom in Salt Lake around 11 ish to drop Tayv off with her and head to the hospital. Frankly, I'm so sick of telling the stories of the last week that I'm going to make that part of the story very short- I'm still huge.
Anyway, we drove to Kamas today to pick him up and I was telling Nate on the way up about Tayvin's conversation with my mom this morning: it was all about how he and Grandpa had chores to do. They got up early so they could head out to the hay field and then to chop wood. Nate said he was a little more concerned for his relationship with Tayv than he was for Tayv's relationship with my dad. I told him he might just have to buy a farm. When we got there, I found out that my cute little farmboy is now the proud owner of his very own work gloves! He has such a connection with the farm, the land, and the animals that I truly don't know what we'll do when Nate moves us away from it. I love that he loves it though!
